A soldier tells us about his experience in Germany. He talks about how he'd lost his best friend and that he disobeyed orders to kill 2 German guards. He talked about how his fellow soldiers got sick just by looking at all the dead bodies. He also talks about how it changed his life that he got to save people. It was the best thing he ever did in his life. It's going to show that a lot of people changed in this country and it's a nice personal thought to show how it was over in the concentration camps.
Glumicich, Milan. “War”, April, 19th 1942
This is a document that we've found from Milan. He discussed how he was drafted in the war when he was really young. He always talked about how he didn't want to be a solider, so he came to America to become a dentist. It shows how the war was over in Germany. This helps because it's a personal document that nobody has seen before.

May 8th, 1945 World War 2 ended. The Axis powers surrendered to the Allies. A week before they had surrendered, Adolf Hitler committed suicide. Europe claimed that day VE Day for Victory in Europe! This helps our project because it shows the end of the war.

We never really look at all the countries that were affected by the war. Our people weren't enslaved or starved. A lot of people died in other countries and in a way that does affect us. We didn't have to go through that kind of pain. It's going to help our project by showing that we were lucky and that this country remained strong throughout the whole war.
Perrett, Geoffrey. “Days of Sadness, Years of Triumph. The American People, 1939–1945”, 1973
This historian talks about how America had a lot of problems. It talks about social and economic problems that we faced. It also talks a lot about politics. American faced really hard times and how the war helped us and hurt us quite about it. We're still struggling with it. It's going to show a major turning point in our country.

The battle of Midway took place from June 4th to June 7th of 1942. The US destroyed 4 Japanese aircraft carries and a heavy cruiser. We only lost one aircraft carrier and a destroyer ship. The battle shortened the war in the pacific. It helps our project because they shortened the war so most of the attention could go to the war in Germany. It was a big turning point.
Higgs, Robert. “How U.S. Economic Warfare Provoked Japan’s Attack on Pearl Harbor” 1 May, 2006http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=1930
The reason the American’s got in World War 2 is because the Japanese attacked us. We probably wouldn’t have gotten in the war if they wouldn’t have attacked us. Way before the attack on Pearl Harbor happened, their economy was doing great. By the time 1941 came around, their economy was advanced. This helps our project because it shows why the U.S. got in the war.

On December 8, Hitler told his army to quit being offensive and that they needed to be more defensive. Hitler blamed the early arrival of winter for the setback of the plans. He wanted to attack again in the spring. If the war would have been victorious, the Soviet Union would have been destroyed. This helps our project because it shows why the attack wasn't successful.

Hitler was a somewhat cautious man. He had attacked Poland, Norway, Holland, Belgium, France, and Balkans. He succeed in all of those attacks. When he went to attack the Soviet Union, he was “dizzy with success” and that's when things started to change. This helps are project because it shows a bit of a turning point.
Vashem, Yad. “The World of the Camps” http://www1.yadvashem.org/yv/en/holocaust/about/06/camps.asp
The forced labor on the Jews. It didn't show that they were going to be exterminated. Since Germany was having economic problems the needed the Jews to do labor for them. That's how they were going to exterminate them. They were going to make them do merciless labor. Some were just exterminated though.
This helps our project to show how the Jews were treated and how the Germans worked quickly.
